Chris
Webster founded Christopher Webster Real Estate in 1976 on the historic
Plaza in downtown Santa Fe after becoming licensed as a real estate broker
in the state of New Mexico. Chris began a working professional real estate
relationship with Sotheby's
International Realty (SIR) in the early 1980s, becoming the exclusive
affiliate for New Mexico in 1984, and serving on their Advisory Board
since 1989. In June of 1998 Sotheby's bought Christopher Webster Real
Estate as their first acquisition worldwide of an affiliate company.
Chris
has an extensive background in real estate including appraisal and finance,
residential, commercial, and ranch brokerage, international consulting
and brokerage primarily in Mexico and Western Europe, and golf resort
development marketing expertise. Initiated
in 1982, Chris has semi-annually produced the most extensive and analytical
report on the Santa Fe real estate market, Christopher
Webster Reports. In
addition to real estate brokerage activity with SIR, Webster serves
as the President of the New Mexico Council of the American Chapter of
the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), has been a member
of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the Realtors Association
of New Mexico (RANM), and the Santa Fe Association of Realtors since
1976.
In addition to the world
of real estate brokerage and consultation, Chris coordinates the activities
of Webster Enterprises,
the umbrella organization of his interests and professional involvements
with the arts, design and production and professional consulting. Christopher
Webster Art Investments was founded in 1972 as a brokerage, procurement
and appraisal business for American Indian and indigenous art of the Americas,
as well as vintage western paintings and photography and Spanish Colonial
artifacts. From those origins came the opportunity to set aside certain
objects into a collection that today consists primarily of representative
examples from Mexico, Peru, and the American Southwest, the lands of Spanish
exploration during the Age of Discovery. Timeless
Integrity: The New World Collection and a complimentary library may
be viewed by appointment in its Plaza location in Santa Fe, a space that
recently was redone to emulate a Mexican hacienda while housing the collection.
Panacea
on the plaza, a unique and esoteric experience in Santa Fe, New Mexico,
is an irregular occurence of episodic events showcasing artists' works,
offering venues for performing artists and writers, hosting public receptions
for leaders in the arts and in the community, all the while providing opportunity
and space for discussion, reflection, creative sharing, and enlightenment.
Plaza Productions is an in-house design and
production division utilizing the creative talents of the Southwest's best
artisans and entrepreneuers producing print, video, multimedia, web design,
and special events for individuals, businesses, and institutions.
